input behavior question

3 years 5 months ago #1 by Abdullah_0000
I have a question not related to inputmapper but to input behavior in general, you know most touchpads have a tap to click functionality, that work great in the OS but does not work in most games, is it because clicking the physical button of a mouse sends a different signal than tapping on touchpad? so games just ignore the tapping signal because it doesn't recognize it

So games implement more of a low level hook when it comes to mouse input meaning it bypasses most of the stuff that is done by windows input api's such as pinch zoom, 2 finger scrolling, and clicking. The DS4 touchpad is the same way, all of the clicking on tap and scrolling is being emulated by the IM software

is there a way to force games to use the windows input api or is it more complicated than that?

No, because it is completely the game code that determines how they access the devices, either that or libraries used by the game code like slimdx
