Sony DS4 - Use Gyro for Steering in Asphalt-9 Legends racing

1 year 3 months ago #1 by Tesla1856
I just found and installed InputMapper v1.6.x and now I can finally use my DS4 controller in Asphalt-9 Legends (free, from Windows Store). I think I need to send the developer a donation :) However, I have to steer with the thumb joystick.

My question is ... how to I setup Gyro/Accelerometer to work so I can hold the DS4 controller like a steering-wheel and tilt it to steer?

I tried some stuff, but I'm obviously missing something. When playing/config-ing Asphalt-9, I have Steam shut-down.

I'm new to InputMapper, but not a total newbie ... I have DS4-Gyro-Steering working in other games (like Burnout Paradise and NFS Most Wanted) but those are Steam games using Valve's built-in DS4 controller support (no InputMapper was running or even installed back then).

Thanks for the quick reply.

So, I need to set values of:
-95 offset and 20% sensitivity
... on Axis Tuning Page, but which Section?
Also, don't I need to set something on "SixAxis Mappings" section on main Mappings page of Profile.

Any more hints? Like, is it X or Y and are we using the Gyro or the Accelerometer (or both)?

OK, I got it working pretty good, thanks.

SixAxis Mappings:
GyroX=LeftStickX

Axis Tuning Tab:
GyroX: Reverse
Offset: -95
Sensitivity: 20%

To anyone else wanting this ... yes, you can make any DS4 button you want Nitro,Drift, and Camera.

Couple of strange things
1. GyroX was the obvious choice but I thought I tried that before posting here. Well, at least I found you guys. :)
2. Even with the controller flat on the table, I don't suppose there is any way to keep it from moving the mouse cursor on game menus when not racing?
3. Still needs some tuning. I was hoping it would work closer to how Siri remote works with Asphalt-8 Airborne on AppleTV-Gen4.
4. Do any other parameters on Axis Tuning tab affect how this works (like, for example, LeftStick).

Thanks again and I welcome any other thoughts on fine-tuning this.

I would set up 2 profiles for this game, one with they gyro on and one with it off, then create a macro that cycles between the two. See the video below for more on that:

Oh, right. I could press the Macro button right before the actual racing starts. Good idea.

Can you answer this question:
Do any other parameters on Axis Tuning tab affect how this works (like, for example, LeftStick params).

I hope that makes sense, but I need to know as I fine-tune the Gyros response while racing.
