DS4 Controller No Longer Working in Games

3 years 8 months ago #1 by Rick Crowson
InputMapper used to work before I updated it to 1.6.10 perfectly fine and I could play any game that supported controllers. Then I downloaded the update and it simply stopped working. To be more specific, when I launch the Xinput test it says that it is "Connected," but when I launch any game it will not register that I am pressing buttons on the controller, leaving me at a main menu screen with nothing to do on most. To try to remedy the issue I uninstalled Input mapper and reinstalled it as the last functioning patch, 1.6.9, but to my surprise the controller still did not work in games. I have tried all the other basic things like switching out controllers, USB's, and turning the computer on and off.
I am running Windows 10 Version 1607 (14393.321)

In xinput test do your controller input actually show up there?

It shows pictures of Xbox 360 controllers at different angles while at the top saying Status: Connected.

It claims the rest of the controllers are connected but I do not see my input

I think you may have some "phantom" controller lingering around in your system then. Use the device manager and remove all gamepads both 360 and ds4 from the device manager and when prompted remove software aswell.
