Exclusive Mode broken after Windows 10 Fall Creators update

You have to edit the AffectedDevices registry value via regedit in order for HidGuardian to take control of the device.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidGuardian\Parameters\AffectedDevices
The file generated by InputMapper does not include the device instance path for the version 2 DS4 controller so HidGuardian will not be used. Here are the lines that should be used for a version 2 controller. The first line is for a USB connection and the next line is for a BT connection.
HID\VID_054C&PID_09CC&MI_03
HID\{00001124-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB}_VID&0002054C_PID&09CC

This worked for me. Thank you.

Yes. I didn't even have HID Guardian installed before I saw your post, so it was a completely fresh install and I added those two lines to the registry as you described in your post. I didn't know anything about the .Net issues, but I went ahead and enabled them all in my OS and restarted and re-installed HID Guardian and added the registry lines again but still no luck.

That's a bummer, HIDGuardian is the only solution to exclusive mode with the current version of win10. Hope with IM 1.7 the installation of the needed programs get consolidated better.

Did the USB Registry code for HID guardian change recently? Because my controller stopped going exclusive mode when connected via USB but still works fine with Bluetooth.

I have never tried connecting with USB. Try what this guy posted and see if that works. Let me know if it does and I'll add those lines to my instructions.

Ok for USB there are 3 lines that need to be added to the registry, below are the ID's for a 2nd Gen controller. I'm going to check and see if the 1st gen has all the entries. 1st Gen are listed, so now got both versions working exclusively with USB, BT and Sony dongle.

HID\VID_054C&PID_09CC&REV_0100&MI_03
HID\VID_054C&PID_09CC&MI_03
HID\VID_054C&UP:0001_U:0005
