Exclusive mode failing in W10 April 2018 update

1 year 6 months ago - 1 year 6 months ago #1 by jh0nny2k
Hello guys,

My DS4 v2 exlusive mode started failing again after updating windows to the April build.
Is there any workaround this time? I have already applied the 'regedit' fix and hidguardian.

Edit: Using version 1.6.10

Anyone one else encountering same issue?

Kind Regards,
Ionut

You must not have right version of Guardian installed properly. I'm not having any issues using the method in the sticky thread on exclusive mode.

One thing to one. I have DS4 V2 not V1

Hi wirenut48, I was having this same issue until I reinstalled HidGuardian. Does HidGuardian need to be reinstalled after every Windows update? In what events do we need to reinstall it?

All my DS4s are v1.

I realized I haven't got the new update yet. These types of updates are basically a reinstall of windows. So that's probably why the driver quits working and needs to be reinstalled. Guess I'll find out when the update gets pushed thru on my PC. I will follow up with any info regarding the update.

This windows version 1803 requires to uninstall and reinstall HIDGuardian. Maybe because the registry entries are missing, I didn't think to check. But some how it gets disabled during the update. Uninstalling using the device manager didn't uninstall the software this time but uninstall thru apps and features did work to remove the directory and drivers.

Had to reinstall my motherboard software too.

Just for the info...
My Win 10 PC recently updated to the new April 1803 build and HID guardian stopped working.

But after downloading HID Guardian and doing an un-install and re-install of HID guardian Input mapper works again perfectly.

Only thing I can think of is the uninstall didn't work and the old driver didn't get removed. What uninstall method did you use? Using apps and features (previously known as add and remove programs) should work. The system will tell you to reboot when uninstalled so it can remove the driver. Did this happen when you uninstalled it?
