Input Mapper fails to launch

3 years 3 months ago - 3 years 3 months ago #1 by Zenarkii
When attempting to launch InputMapper, the process begins and uses 2.8MB under the "Memory" column in Task Manager, then shuts itself down. No logs are generated.

I have tried running InputMapper in compatibility mode for WIndows 7 and 8 and have tried running InputMapper as an admin on Windows 10 + both compatibility modes. Have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Possible causes: Missing prerequisites, corrupt settings file, overzealous antivirus, incompatible program running (radeon pro, TS, etc)

After consulting the DS4 Health checker tool, I believe I can rule out prerequisites, and after attempting to launch InputMapper while my antivirus was disabled, I've ruled out overzealous AV. I have had InputMapper working before, so I don't think it's due to an incompatible program running.

Where would I find the settings file?

The DS4 heath check tool is not for that purpose, and programs update and change over time. So its either prerequisite, incompatible program or corrupt settings file.

Reset the settings by going to %appdata%\InputMapper and clearing out the folder.

Hmm.. It wasn't the settings folder. I tried booting windows in safe mode, and InputMapper still wouldn't open then; would that help rule out an incompatible program?

Also, is there a list of prerequisites for InputMapper anywhere? I only know of the Microsoft .NET framework.

Thank you for taking your time to reply to me so far. I'll be glad when I'm able to use InputMapper again, it's definitely my favourite program for using PS4 controllers on PC.

.net 4.5.2 or better I believe, directx end user runtime, and c++ i believe. What is your OS build number?

My current OS build is 10586.494

I have tried downloading and installing the mentioned prerequisites, to no avail, unfortunately.

there really is no other explanation other than a missing prerequisite or a incompatible program running.
