Well value selector puts out a numeric value, and toggle is a bool. What are you trying to do? if you just want to map to a button you shouldn't need value selector or toggle.

I was trying to do something stupid  but in my defence, the mapping tools are confusing, or I'm just stupid

Its certainly a learning curve, there will be easier more graphical ways to do basic mappings in the future. If you simply want to map a axis to a button though all you need is [Source Axis > Simple Logic > Destination button]. If you want the mouse button to remain pressed even after you let go the axis then you insert a toggle between the logic and the button.

Can you explain the "insert a toggle between the logic and the button"? I want the click of the left joystick to toggle the keyboard left shift press. First press acts as if pressing down and second click acts as a release.

The "Toggle" plugin ( inputmapper.com/downloads/download/9-cha...on-plugins/51-toggle ) should do exactly that.

Thank you!

Sorry for my ignorance, I am new to this program. How do I import the plugin? Do I just place the toggle.imp in C:\Program Files (x86)\DSDCS\InputMapper?

This is the input mapper 2.0 forum, you seem to be using 1.5.
