Plugin packages have the benefit of being completely user hands off wen it comes to installation, they simply double click the file.

Creating one is easy and requires no software or coding, though I plan to develop a packager to help things along.

  1. Create a .zip file of all your plugin files, no folder structure, just the files.

  2. Create a plugin.ini file and add it to the zip with the following format:
    [pluginFolder]
    file0=myPlugin.dll
    file1=myPluginHelper.dll

    If your plugin is only the one dll plugin file all you need to do is define it in file0, if your plugin has multiple files define them incrementally file1, file2 and so on.

  3. Rename the zip extension to .imp The file will still be a zip and can be opened with zip file readers, but the imp extension tells InputMapper that the zip is a plugin and can be installed.
