Deadzone types

3 years 11 months ago #1 by wirenut48
Doesn't seem like the Hard radial settings is working, acts the same as Axial. I could set a large deadzone and it is being applied to the whole axis. Really need this fixed for my golf game to work properly. If I set a deadzone large enough to compensate for the mechanical slop to read 0.0, game could detect a high percentage of 0 X axis deviation swings and get penalized.

Hope you can take a look at this and it is an easy fix as I assume it was working at one time. Thanks

just took a look at .31 and both settings are working as intended, you can tell by pushing the stick to extreme up, with axis deadzone even when the stick is all the way up it will still snap to 0 on the x if close enough to the center line, on radial once it leaves that center circle it will not snap to any axis

Also keep in mind, that the xinput api itself has some deadzone by default and depending on the game it may be introducing some right in the api

It's only the RS that isn't toggling properly, the LS works fine. Using X-input test I set a 25% radial deadzone on each. Moving the RS to the top it has the same play on the X axis as it does in the center position. Now the LS it's hard to keep it at zero which is the way it should be. Switching the LS to axial I get the same play on top as with the center position, so working correctly. RS has play at the top no matter which method is selected.

Using the RS as I do in the game you could set a large Radial deadzone and the ball will fly straight no matter how crooked you hit it, not good. I use as small of a DZ as possible to zero out the axis but one of my controller need 5% which leaves a good corridor of forgiveness. These new Golf games can detect zero axis movement and I really don't want to have to learn to use the LS.

Hmm, If I did infact forget to code the RS, Im not sure how its gone this long unnoticed.

I have been aware if it for some time but didn't know it was only one stick. But the RS set to radial does snap to zero as you described above and the LS doesn't.

Have you had a chance to check the code to see why it isn't working? Can't imagine it would be too difficult to fix. I Know you're focused on IM2, but I'm not sure if I will ever switch. So hope IM1.5 will still get some continuing support afterwards, as I have small wish list, mainly with macro editing and management.
