DS4 to not show xbox button inputs?

2 years 8 months ago #1 by Glansberg
Maybe a dumb question, when playing fighting games it confuses me when trying to learn cause it shows xbox controller prompts. Is there an option im missing so that I can make my DS4 appear to windows as a DS4? It was working before in For Honor now I cannot get it to work with inputmapper.

That would depend on what controllers the game supports as the button display is part of the game code. With IM 1.6 the game sees the DS4 as a 360.

Asus STRIX X299-E GAMING MB, i7-7820X 3.6/4.5GHz 8-Core, 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum (CMD16GX4M2B2400C10), NVIDIA TITAN X (Pascal), Samsung 970 Pro 1TB M.2-NVMe w/Western Digital 2TB (WD2000F9YZ), Samsung 65Q9FN QLED, HTC Vive, 850w PS, W10

In 1.7, using a combination of HidGuardian and ViGEm, the input of the DS4 can be blocked to windows routed through IM then output as a new virtual DS4, allowing game that have native DS4 support to still show proper prompts but also allow whatever mapping/tuning changed you with to make in IM to take place, but in 1.6 since all you can output is a 360 controller your options are to use the 360 prompts or just not use IM for that game.
