Unfortunately I believe the game has to have support for the dongle, which makes it kind of useless. It should work ok using the 360 drivers.

Asus STRIX X299-E GAMING MB, i7-7820X 3.6/4.5GHz 8-Core, 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum (CMD16GX4M2B2400C10), NVIDIA TITAN X (Pascal), Samsung 970 Pro 1TB M.2-NVMe w/Western Digital 2TB (WD2000F9YZ), Samsung 65Q9FN QLED, HTC Vive, 850w PS, W10

You haven't gave enough detail of how you have it setup to go on. I would unplug the dongle and try it using just the usb cable. If that doesn't work you have something else going on causing problems.

Does the game support a 360 controller? That is what you would have to select from within the game.

Well if IM is loading the virtual 360 controller to the device manager it should be working in game, don't no what else to say.

GTA V supports the Sony Dualshock 4 without any extra drivers. Make sure steam controller support is disabled, and close any programs like inputmapper while you run it. It is made with DS4 in mind, even has button prompts for the controller built-in.
